YOUR COMMON QUESTIONS

When should I replace my air conditioner?

The life expectancy of an air conditioner varies from climate to climate, the average age at replacement is between 10 and 15 years.

How often does my AC need maintenance?

Your spring cleaning to-do list should include air conditioner maintenance. Regular preventive service can extend the life of your unit, but there’s a certain point when repairing your AC is no longer cost-effective.

How Often Should I Add Freon to My HVAC System?

Freon is a brand name given of refrigerant fluid within your air conditioner, and is currently being phased out. However, your air conditioning system is filled with enough refrigerant, or Freon, to last the duration of its lifecycle. It does not get depleted like gas from a car or oil from an appliance. Therefore, you should never have to add refrigerant or Freon to the system.

If you notice symptoms such as low cooling output or low airflow, you may have a refrigerant leak. The leak must be located and repaired by a professional, and at that point we will refill—recharge—the refrigerant level.

What is the difference between R-22 and R-410A refrigerants?

R-22, otherwise known as freon is an older type of refrigerant while R-410A is used on newer air conditioners & rooftop units. In January 2020 R-22 was phased out & is no longer being manufactured.
